The Ants Go Marching

The military denies that allowing more low scoring and high school drop outs into the military means is lowering recruitment standards.  If this is not lowering recruitments standards I fail to understand what would be lowering recruitment standards...allowing chimps to join? Hello?! It isn't exactly raising recruitment standards or, um, keeping them the same...so what is it?

If you don't think that lowering standards is problematic, I want you to think Lyndie England.  If there ever was a poster child for letting some not too bright, generally fucked up individual into the military, it is Lyndie England.

I was reading Redstate and they actually have article about how recruiting isn't down.  Now I have followed Redstate.org for a while because I thought they had some of the better informed opinions of all the Republican websites. I am starting to have a change of heart.  If you think that Kos looks like Freeperville, try reading the out and out denial of reality I keep seeing over at the Redstate site lately.  The more horrendous this administration's positions are, the harder these otherwise smart people work at making excuses.

I believe recruitment is down, partly because Republicans talk a good game, but don't  actually do anything...like join the military.  Democrats, unless they were already in, generally have no reason to join and every reason to avoid, considering that the vast majority of us wouldn't trust the current administration to run a 7-11, much less a war.

I have a sixteen year old son, and there is no way that a recruiter is ever getting a bite out of my boy.  I joined the Army when I was seventeen, but those were different times, a different administration and we weren't sending our military to occupy other countries.
